Dubai Duty Free Chooses NCR Point-of-Sale Technology

Dubai Duty Free, located at Dubai International Airport has selected a point-of-sale (POS) solution from NCR Corporation.

Opened for business in 1983, Dubai Duty Free has grown to become one of the top three airport retailers in the world with a turnover in 2006 of US$712 million. Employing over 1,850 people and offering more than 35,000 product lines, Dubai Duty Free recorded over 16 million sales transactions in 2006.

Emirates Computers, an NCR RealPartner, is providing staging, integration, installation and training for the POS solution, as well as ongoing maintenance and support.

The comprehensive POS solution from NCR includes 180 NCR RealPOS workstations paired with the NCR RealPOS DynaKey operator interface, as well as thermal receipt printers and bar-code scanners from NCR. Future plans call for the installation of an additional 200 complete NCR RealPOS units for Dubai Duty Free’s second location in the Dubai International Airport.
