HID Global Achieves ATEX Certification

HID Global has achieved ATEX Certification for its complete IN Tag portfolio of industrial radio frequency identification (RFID) tags, including the company’s new high frequency IN Tag™ 200 OM and 500 OM transponders that are designed to perform exceptionally well when mounted on metal assets. The company’s entire line of industrial Glass Tags has also earned ATEX certification. The certification enables process automation and identification for both metal and non-metal assets, ensuring safe tag use in potentially explosive environments. ATEX certification validates that HID Global RFID tags operate without danger of directly causing or contributing to an explosion when used in flammable gas environments. These environments include offshore drilling platforms, petrochemical plants, mines, flourmills and other process industries in which there is a mixture of gases, vapors, mists or dust in the air that can ignite at specific temperatures or under certain operating conditions. ATEX certification also validates that the company’s RFID tags perform while maintaining surface temperatures low enough to prevent the risk of ignition.
