Algeciras Terminal To Deploy Active RFID Solution

Total Terminal International Algeciras (TTI ALGECIRAS) has selected active RFID technology at their new Greenfield automated terminal in Algeciras Spain.

IDENTEC SOLUTIONS, in conjunction with Hi-Tech Solutions Europe (HTSE) and ABB will provide their RFID technology solution and support systems.   The Terminal Operating System (TOS), developed by Cyberlogitec Ltd of Korea, will act as Master.

HTSC, who is the main contractor and a leader in Optical Character Recognition (OCR) systems for port applications, will implement its SeeCrane OCR system for the 8 ZPMC ship to shore cranes, as well as its SeeGate OCR and damage inspection system, driver pedestals for the TTI Algeciras Terminal Gate.   IDENTEC SOLUTIONS will deliver its newly released IntelliFIND Real Time Locating System (RTLS) for the ship to shore cranes and yard operations. Shuttle carriers will be precisely located under the quay cranes and matched to containers automatically scanned by the HTSE OCR system. In the yard, the IDENTEC SOLUTIONS RFID/RTLS based system will track the location and status of all shuttles and containers. 

In conjunction with ABB, IDENTEC SOLUTIONS will also provide an innovative new traffic control system, to ensure correct delivery and retrieval of containers at thirty- two (32) water and land-side Automated Storage crane transfer blocks. The Global Control System middleware solution from HTSE will link the IntelliFIND RTLS and ASC traffic subsystems with TTI ALGECIRAS TOS (ATHOS).

The TTI ALGECIRAS operation is due to become operational in mid 2010.
